You name it we've been learning it! Check out the photos below.

Kindness Week

Last week was kindness week at Rawhiti School. We made kindness rocks to put around the community, practised giving compliments, learned and practised the school kindness dance/routine and we also had our own random acts of kindness buddy. Erika and Johanna from Mindful movers also took us through some mindfulness which was awesome! We are all on such a high from all the kindness that has been happening around the school!

Below is Willow being given compliments from all her lovely studio mates! Look at that smile 😃

Year 4 Overnight Stay

Last Tuesday the Year 4's from Tāwhirimatea, Tāne Mahuta and Pāptuanuku came back to school and enjoyed dinner with their families. Then their families left and the fun began. We tucked up in our beds, watched a movie and enjoyed some supper before going to sleep. The next day we went to Orana Park which was incredible! We got to see the new attraction, the gorillas. They were amazing to watch. Everyone had a blast. Thanks anyone who helped with the organisation or supported at Orana Park we couldn't do it without your help!

Now the Year 4's are ready to go for camp next year! Well done everyone :).

Pen Pals

This term and last term we have been writing to a Pen Pal within school. We wrote to them each week which was a strategy/programme that was put in place to help us improve our writing. Everyone was really excited to meet their Pen Pals and we enjoyed some kai after the long wait to see who our mystery Pen Pal was!

Letter Writing

In Tāwhirimātea we started a letter writing programme the other day. The children write letters to an anonymous person (selected by the teachers) and then that person responds to their letter within a week. Then the children read the letter from their anonymous person and then they write back again. This goes on for the rest of Term 2 and then at the end the children get to find out who their pen pal or letter writing buddy was. This is done within the school and is going to help improve the children  writing!

We are all very excited about sending and receiving letters. Check out the pictures below of us writing....

Regenerate Christchurch

Today we worked with the team from Regenerate Christchurch, Sian and Daisy. Regenerate Christchurch is seeking ideas for how to utilise the redzone by asking children from the area! So they came to Rāwhiti. How amazing is that!? Today we were shown a drone video of the redzone and what it looks like with no houses with just greenery and wide open spaces. We discussed how we could utilise this space by putting things there that we need to lead a healthy lifestyle both physically and mentally. The children shared their ideas with the Regenerate team by drawing their ideas onto postcards and explaining them. They were blown away by Tāwhirimātea's ideas!

Here are some of our fantastic ideas!
